New Digs

Well here are a few photos of my decorations in my new home I broke my wide angle lens (a story for another time) and the cheapest lens I could get is much narrower, so I can't get overall shots until I get a new lens.

These are my curtain thingys, I bought these at Jumbo in Crete, my friend Kristie was with me when I bought these :-)

These are a coule of pictures from Italy, I got the one on the left from Pisa, and the one on the right was my going away gift from Rome from a great friend.

These are my monkeys from Africa

And my stuffed animals from various places, there are more but these are the ones that grace the top of my tv. And the painting above which you can't see the whole thing was a birthday present from a guy I used to date in Italy, it was also framed there and survived 2 moves! Thank God! It's a William Blake painting called The Creator and its my favorite.

I actually have cable now! And internet in my room and a home phone! The best part about the phone is that the company offers a state side number, they were able to give me a number from my hometown which is awesome because all my calls home are free and local, and its local for my mom and friends to call me! Only problem... a 14 hour time differance! And my best friend is getting married and I am the Maid of Honor so I'm just waiting for the calls in the middle of the night with a list of things she needs me to research, price, and order! I already have to look for bridesmaids dresses and price them for her and look for a flower shop to get her bouques from. I don't mind though I told her I can't do much, if she is going to task me with anything it has to be able to be done online until I'm on leave for the wedding, and my mom offered to be my replacement until I'm there!

I'm watching Animal Planet while I write this and I just learned a fact that I think is interesting enough to talk about.

Bull Sharks can live in both fresh and salt water, and that also means attacks on humans increase, in the 70's (I believe 70's) a little boy disapeared in the water and one man from the rescue party was also attacked and died. Then another little boy had his leg bitten off! They tried to shoot the shark, used dynamite to my blow it up but never got it! To date there have been over 85 deaths in this stretch of fresh water in Australia. Now the interesting part, that shark and those reported deaths are what inspired Jaws. So a Bull Shark turned into a Great White and an awesome classic movie! I remember when I would dive into a pool (you know how the deep end is darker) as soon as I would hit the water I would race back to the top and to the ladder. It was so silly. But I think everyone who has seen a shark or killer crocodile movie has had that quick fear of water.

But regardless of all the potential deadly things in the ocean I LOVE the water, I love being underwater, and everything else. If I could trade in my legs for fins and live in the water I would, when I was a kid I used to pretend I was a mermaid. Hence the inspiration for my back piece that I have wanted for so long.

There is a lot to say about this piece, but I'll save it for another day. Thanks for reading!
