New Digs

Well here are a few photos of my decorations in my new home I broke my wide angle lens (a story for another time) and the cheapest lens I could get is much narrower, so I can't get overall shots until I get a new lens.

These are my curtain thingys, I bought these at Jumbo in Crete, my friend Kristie was with me when I bought these :-)

These are a coule of pictures from Italy, I got the one on the left from Pisa, and the one on the right was my going away gift from Rome from a great friend.

These are my monkeys from Africa

And my stuffed animals from various places, there are more but these are the ones that grace the top of my tv. And the painting above which you can't see the whole thing was a birthday present from a guy I used to date in Italy, it was also framed there and survived 2 moves! Thank God! It's a William Blake painting called The Creator and its my favorite.

I actually have cable now! And internet in my room and a home phone! The best part about the phone is that the company offers a state side number, they were able to give me a number from my hometown which is awesome because all my calls home are free and local, and its local for my mom and friends to call me! Only problem... a 14 hour time differance! And my best friend is getting married and I am the Maid of Honor so I'm just waiting for the calls in the middle of the night with a list of things she needs me to research, price, and order! I already have to look for bridesmaids dresses and price them for her and look for a flower shop to get her bouques from. I don't mind though I told her I can't do much, if she is going to task me with anything it has to be able to be done online until I'm on leave for the wedding, and my mom offered to be my replacement until I'm there!

I'm watching Animal Planet while I write this and I just learned a fact that I think is interesting enough to talk about.

Bull Sharks can live in both fresh and salt water, and that also means attacks on humans increase, in the 70's (I believe 70's) a little boy disapeared in the water and one man from the rescue party was also attacked and died. Then another little boy had his leg bitten off! They tried to shoot the shark, used dynamite to my blow it up but never got it! To date there have been over 85 deaths in this stretch of fresh water in Australia. Now the interesting part, that shark and those reported deaths are what inspired Jaws. So a Bull Shark turned into a Great White and an awesome classic movie! I remember when I would dive into a pool (you know how the deep end is darker) as soon as I would hit the water I would race back to the top and to the ladder. It was so silly. But I think everyone who has seen a shark or killer crocodile movie has had that quick fear of water.

But regardless of all the potential deadly things in the ocean I LOVE the water, I love being underwater, and everything else. If I could trade in my legs for fins and live in the water I would, when I was a kid I used to pretend I was a mermaid. Hence the inspiration for my back piece that I have wanted for so long.

There is a lot to say about this piece, but I'll save it for another day. Thanks for reading!

Yo

Not much to say today just some random stuff. Well last night I went to choir practice and what is in the chapel parking lot? The devil car of evil transportation!

I was on the air again today! My sponsor and I went on and she came up with the Squid Ground Pounder Power Hour. Squid being Navy, and Ground Pounder being Army.

I have a new favorite show! Two and a Half Men! Its hilarious! Petty sibling rivalry I remember the way my brother and I used to fight, oh my gosh, and it didn't help that we were both in martial arts and we would kick the crap out of each other! Well, more like I kicked the crap out of him (I was/is a better fighter:-))

Next weekend a group of us are going down to a palace, I can't remember the name of it but when I find out I will write about it and post some pics, I need to post some of my new humble abode. I love that my stuff is here now! My William Blake painings, stuffed animals, DVDs, and books are here! I have plants too! I've never had a plant. I figured since my relationships are such aweful failures I should see if I can keep a plant alive, and I already know I can keep an animal alive, then I can start dating again :-)

Well I tried to upload some photos but I guess the files are kind of big and it takes a while, and it didn't work. And I'm getting impatient. So I will post some photos later!

Thanks for reading and being patient!

Always Reminded

Wow, so I have to get this out!

This morning after my workout I was walking back to my room for a shower and some breakfast, and you know how... when you miss someone, or someone broke your heart you are always reminded of them? Well usually with me its music, but its been more this time! Its ALWAYS something. With music I always hear Nick Lachey - I Can't Hate You Anymore (which is on my myspace page), Pink - Just Like A Pill, Katy Perry - Hot N' Cold (which I used to dedicate to him on the air in Crete, hehe) Avril Lavine - So Much For My Happy Ending. And this morning while I was in the shower, yes I shower and rock out, it was Toni Braxton - Unbreak My Heart. Yeah, thats when I look to the sky and say "Why do you torture me like this?!" But now its getting to the point of irony, and kinda funny.

But anyway, walking home to go shower, what zipps by me? A blue Eagle Talon! The very same devil car on Crete that transports the evil swallower of my heart and soul!

But its moments like that that lets me know there is a God and He had a twisted sense of humor! Which does make me feel better about my twisty humor :-) But then I have to remember that He knows best, and I've been trying so hard to forget this guy, no joke if that memory mind bending thing was real I would go and get every memory of him removed!

So maybe thats why these reminders keep coming up, stop dwelling on the past and remember the good times.

So congrdulations to those with good relationships, live it and love it for the people who are unloved and forgotten! (No fears, I'm not giving up!)

p.s. Yes I know my friends that love me, I love you too, but relationship-wise, it applies.

Figuring Things Out

Hey All!
As I said in my "About Me" part of my profile, I created this blog to give a more indepth look at my life overseas with the Navy and my experiances as an aspiring photographer. As far as the things I would like to figure out is how to add photos and videos... wow, and as I typed that I looked up and saw the little icons, and when I put my mouse over them one says "add image" and the other said "add video" Silly me... but hey I accomplished what I wanted to figure out! Yeah to me!

So up above here is me at Knosos Palace on Crete. I'm hard at work :-) and my friend Lil'Cody took this photo of me.

And this is the photo I ended up with :-) There are about 3 or 4 versions. With different exposures and focus points.

As you will see in several posts I will be SHAMELESSLY promoting my website. This photo as well as several other awesome photos (if I do say so myself) are at http://www.samanthastark.com/ so please check them out and feel free to contact me. If there are any photos you want to know about, either the story behind them, or how I got it I will write about it.

Until next time....

First Post

Hello All!
This is my first blog, I've never used on before and I hope to keep up with it. I'm not always good at these things.

I just moved to Korea and I've been here about 2 weeks. It was my first day at work, checking in, and start training. Got to go live on the air (radio)

So I'm excited and hope people actually read this.
