Birthday Month

Birthday month is almost over, and I get paid in a few days THANK GOODNESS!
Gave some good gifts, got some good gifts and now I am broke :) but to make my friends and family happy its worth it.

Still applying for jobs and applied to about 6 this evening.  While moving sucks I really don't care where this job is just as long as I have one.

School is going well enough, just getting through my public relations classes... jeez they are so boring!

Anyway that is the quick update.

Job Hunt

Sometimes the job hunt for a DJ is very slow going, had some promising phone interviews and so on but I'm still looking.  Also trying to get my demos together for some voice work.  Hopefully soon I will make it to Portland Oregon which has everything I want to be doing all in one city!
Wish me luck!

Hello Readers!
Or, Reader!  Which is probably my mom...

I have been gone from Godforsakken for a month now and while I am looking for work I am SOOO happy to be out of there!  Have some prospects and interviews so let's hope I can work for people who have actual knowledge of the business!  Woohoo!

It was sad that the podcast (oh, yeah I was on a podcast...) had to end but me and my co-host have figured out a way to keep me part of it so that is cool.

You can listen to all our back episodes at www.notanotherpodcast.com listen and love us please!

Boring

Yes, I know I should just shut up and be happy that I have a job... its a paycheck I can make rent and I can make my car payments. Yay me.
Not all radio jocks dream of doing the same pre-recorded crap every single day (and if you do then you probably suck, just saying...) but I love what I do when I can do it live and have fun! Cause really that's what this career is all about.
The job is essentially controlled chaos, it satisfies the wound-up need to be planned side of me and the goofy side of me!
I get so bored here, bored to the point of exhaustion ... I want to scream, climb the walls or pop out of my skin!
I am in the process of revising my resume and getting the F outta here!
Wish me luck!

"Home"

This is me, bored, not much to say or do out here in Godforsaken. I did learn from my neighbor that at one point my house, nicknamed The Murder House, was condemned. The piping is all rotting out so that's fun to deal with. Also at one point this house was planned on being torn down.
Oh well, I don't feel like I have much to complain about its a roof over my head, a yard for the dog and the heat works (the jury is still out on the air conditioning) plain and simple its really tough to find a place to live out here so you take what you can get when you can get it.

Book

So I have been kicking around this idea for a while of a book. It started out as a kids book there the idea is Teddy Bears protect your dreams. All the teddy bears in the neighborhood would sneak out in the night to their secret lair and monitor the kids' dreams so they could enter and stop any bad ones.

Then I had a thought of Gnomes vs Teddy Bears! And the epic battle that would ensue over the course of a series! But I don't know my target audience for that one. I want it to be dark and sinister but as an adult novel who would take it any sort of serious? So do I dumb it down and write for a pre-teen audience?

I have no answers yet. I am just going to start writing and see where it will take me. I will share some excerpts as they become available.

The Move

I will be honest about how I’ve been feeling, no point not to be honest right?  My career is all about letting people into my head, heart and general world… so I may as well get used to it.

Since moving to the nicknamed “Godforsaken” I have been feeling betrayed, lonely and depressed.  Betrayed by my not ex-boyfriend, lonely in that I live in a tight-knit rancher town that doesn’t like “outsiders” and also the fact that my idiot boss lied to me about the position and I am doing nothing that I was told I would be doing so a lot of frustration there and boy does he micromanage!

I live in a house with a big yard so that is good… but the house is nicknamed “The Murder House” because it looks like a serial killer lived here before me, at least the water works!

So after a disappointing day at work to an empty murder house it’s super nice to walk in to a wagging tail and cold nose and kissy tongue!  Essy is great because she makes me feel better about things.  We have a great connection and she knows when I am sad or anxious.  Even when I get teary over a sappy TV show she gets in my face to give me kisses until I laugh and when I’m anxious or irritated she lays across my chest and snuggles her head on my shoulder and just relaxes with me.

Dogs are great for every occasion and just gives love and expects nothing in return.  Just scratches, play and walk!

And this link pretty much says it all!  Oh and GREAT show by the way!

I know!  I haven't written in forever!  And for those of you who are at the edge of your seats just waiting for something new (I know there are SOOO many of you!) I am around, working on some things, have a lot of homework, full time job and blah blah blah... but again, I promise I'm plugging away at some posts here and there!

Social Media

I remember when Myspace first came to be... What a fun way to keep in touch with your friends! Share music, ideas, thoughts, dates whatever you wanted. Facebook was only used for college students at the time still, I had a friend telling me about FB being used on campus. Ok, cool, well I still have you on Myspace so its all good.

Then Facebook took over the world... which is cool, Myspace became a distant memory, I haven't been on it in probably 2 years or so...

Skype is definatley a useful tool, but the statements they have made about how they are going to become bigger than Facebook fell flat, and now with the IPhone's Face Time app Skype seems to be in even more danger.

And then there is Twitter, which I just don't get the point to unless you are a celebrity or company, no one cares what is going on in your life in 140 words or less... "Had eggs for breakfast, they were awesome!" Yeah, definatley don't care... Twitter didn't really come out and SAY they are going to take on FB, instead it held onto its coat-tails for the ride, anything you post on one you have the option of it showing up on the other... way to leech twitter.

And then of course we have what is probably the biggest social media flop to date, Google Plus. Don't get me wrong I love Google, I love Blogger, Google is great and awesome but the promises of Google Plus being bigger than FB and it will take over as the "IT" social media escape turned out to be completely false! Sorry Google, I still love you...

Face it, Facebook is here to stay and stay at the top!

I'm not an expert on these sites or how to use all of them, I know enough because of my career field, it kind of requires I am familiar with them and their usability. This is just my opinion and some rememberences of magazine articles...

Happy New Year

I had such a good New Year celebration. The BF and I ended up watching the ENTIRE Walking Dead marathon on AMC.

Such a good show! My BF had never really watched it, I have seen all of season 1 and was excited to watch season 2... we made it through and the marathon ended at 1am.

Dinner was stuffed scallops served on the shells SSOOOO good! But filling! I could only eat 2 out of the 3 shells in front of me!

LOL, "He can't figure out the 3 seashels!"

Anyway... Enough Demolition Man... Back to New Years.

At Midnight we poped 2 bottles of Champagne, I drank white the BF drank red and his idea was I pop his bottle, he pops mine and we pour for each other kiss and drink! And that's what we did.

It was a low key, yet fun evening, and the perfect way to spend New Years with the person I love so much! Thanks for a great evening and I hope everyone's was as good as mine!

Horrible Bosses

No, I'm not talking about the movie (which by the way was way oversold) but have you ever had "that boss" ? the one who thinks they are way more important than they really are?
Maybe takes things/themselves too seriously? Or tries to be scary by making up rules?

Yeah we have one of those. Thank goodness I'm leaving this place soon and also I don't have to deal with this lady very often but hey, co-workers talk and I'm tired of the stories.

This morning she decided to make up rules about our undershirts and what color they are supposed to be... the regulations clearly states "black, white or mathing color of outside shirt" (slightly paraphrased) well a co-worker had a blask long sleeve shirt under a blue work shirt and after a bossy hissy fit she was asked to take it off. Its cold here, screw you...

I printed off and highlighted the regulation (which was just revised in Aug 2011) and gave it to my co-worker and told her to keep this on her and anytime horrible bosses decide to make up rules, whip it out and shut them up!
